A family doctor in Poland is a key figure of primary healthcare, around whom the entire outpatient care system is built. The work is structured, predictable, and focused on long-term patient management rather than chaotic “everything at once” appointments. This is a clinician, coordinator, and first-contact physician in the full sense of the word.

A family doctor:

• works primarily within the POZ system (primary medical care),

• sees patients by appointment, without an uncontrolled flow,

• has a clearly defined scope of responsibility,

• practices medicine rather than endless paperwork.

Patients are registered with a specific doctor, which builds trust and long-term doctor–patient relationships.
