Ukrainian and Belarusian doctors, especially those with experience in their specialty, are in demand not only in their home countries but also abroad. One example of this is the real opportunity to work as a rheumatologist in Poland under comfortable and favorable conditions, with broad prospects for professional growth.

What is required for this?

The list of requirements for employment includes just a few points:

  • Knowledge of medical Polish sufficient for communicating with colleagues and patients, as well as for handling documentation;

  • A desire to work in the specialty within a modern facility and to develop professionally;

  • Completion of an internship in the specialty of “rheumatology” at a medical institution in their home country.

Note: currently, for doctors who obtained their medical degree outside the EU, a simplified employment system is in place – immediate diploma recognition (nostrification) is not required.

Having prior practical experience in their home country is not mandatory. Some employers do prefer specialists with experience, while others favor candidates who are not tied to established methods and procedures and are ready to quickly adapt to the existing rules and approaches.

What does a candidate receive?

With minimal requirements for candidates, working as a rheumatologist in Poland offers numerous benefits, including:

  • A respectable salary. As of July 1, 2023, Polish medical institutions set the minimum for a rheumatology specialist at 9,200 PLN gross per month;

  • A wide range of employment options – positions are available in both public and private inpatient and outpatient medical facilities;

  • A social benefits package, including various forms of support;

  • Opportunities for professional development, gaining new experience, skills, and knowledge in modern European clinics equipped with high-tech diagnostic tools and facilities.

The first contract with a new employee is usually for a maximum of five years. It can be extended later, unless more promising or better-paid positions become available.
